Sonapur, 01Sept: Today, 1st BN SSB Sonapur celebrated its 56th Raising Day. The unit was raised on 1st September 1968 as a Group Centre SSB Srinagar, Garhwal and in the year 2002, Group Centre SSB Srinagar, Garhwal was redesigned as 1st BN SSB. On 26th September 2002, 1st BN was shifted from Srinagar, Garhwal to Didihat, Uttarakhand.
In July 2009 again the unit was shifted from Didihat to Maharajganj,Uttar Pradesh and on 1st June 2018 this unit was shifted to its present location at Sonapur.
The program began with a wreath laying ceremony honouring the departed souls at Shaheed Smarak park by Anuj Kumar, Offg. Commandant 1st BN SSB followed by Guard of honour. RK Bhumbla, IG Ftr Hqr SSB Guwahati was the chief guest on the occasion, other dignitaries are Professor Dr. Shankarjyoti Basumatary Dean,
LNIPE Guwahati, Sonam Bodh, DIG Ftr Hqr SSB Guwahati, Shailender Kaur, DIG Medical, Disanta Pandey Branch Head SBI Sonapur. Other officers, officials, staff and school students and media persons cooperatively attended the function. Recreational activities were organized for the force personnel, Swayamsiddha members and children followed by variants of cultural shows touching vast cultures from corners of the country. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Virender Mehra, Deputy Commandant 1st BN followed by a Bada Khana party.
